Offered in the spring, summer, and fall terms, this internship role is designed for students pursuing degrees in accounting or related fields. Reporting to the Senior Accountant, this part-time position provides a flexible schedule to accommodate academic commitments while offering practical, hands-on experience in core accounting functions. Depending on your institution’s requirements, this role may be eligible for college credit.
- Spring Internship: Approximately 14 weeks, from mid-January to the end of April.
- Fall Internship: Approximately 14 weeks, from September to mid-December.
- Summer Internship: Approximately 10 weeks, from June to mid-August.
The Accounting Intern will support the accounting team by performing essential operational tasks such as data entry, journal preparation, invoice processing, and reporting. This role is intended to provide a foundational experience in a professional finance environment, contributing to the accuracy and efficiency of our accounting operations.
Key Objectives
- Maintain accuracy and timeliness in data entries into internal systems.
- Support the preparation and distribution of recurring financial reports.
- Provide exposure to a variety of accounting functions and duties.
Primary Responsibilities
- Enter and file invoice data for accounts payable processes.
- Prepare fixed asset documentation and associated invoices for recording.
- Assist with preparation of journal entries under the guidance of the accounting team.
- Support account reconciliation and audit-related documentation.
- Verify and organize daily retail paperwork against system records.
- Distribute invoices to consumer and commercial accounts on scheduled timelines.
- Compile and share reporting related to commercial account activities.
- Provide administrative and operational support to the accounting team as assigned.
Qualifications
- Actively pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Excel and general accounting software.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in numerical work.
- Effective time management and organizational skills.
- Clear written and verbal communication abilities.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and demonstrate professionalism in a business setting.
