Position Summary:  Manage Dispatchers for GNF Trucking Division. Fleet Maintenance Management for routine preventive maintenance and unforeseen repairs.

Status:  Exempt, Salaried

Role Qualifications:

  • Ability to gather and interpret relevant inventory management data and monitor key performance data to anticipate customer service problems, opportunities and risks

  • Strong  computer skills and ability to multi-task at a very high level and very fast pace while thinking quickly and clearly, must have sound judgment
  • Ability  to manage, listen, and direct employees and vendors as well as partner with and ensure the days tasks are met
  • Ability to participate in hiring, training and disciplinary action for Dispatchers and Truck Drivers.
  • Ability to manage attendance, Vacation and Requests for Leave of all Drivers.
  • Ability to insure that routine preventive maintenance is being performed at the correct intervals
  • Ability to successfully analyze and dispatch a fleet of trucks while dealing with other issues.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Inventory Management
    • Review and gather customer inventory levels and reconcile daily
    • Communicate with sites for corrections as needed and adjust loads
    • Analyze, evaluate and dispatch according to customer needs
  • Fuel Dispatch and Pricing
    • Train new Dispatchers
    • Forecast and set loads for future shifts
    • Evaluate, adjust and monitor dispatched loads
    • Price and coordinate daily dispatch of fuel with vendors
    • Review drivers hours of service ensuring safety and in line with DOT regulations
    • Prioritize and assign loads by inventory, customer, price, pull points and geography
  • Customer Service
    • Receive and gather customer orders and communicate instructions to drivers
    • Defuse situations, research problems and address concerns as needed
  • Truck Maintenance
    • Track and coordinate required truck maintenance, update and maintain DOT maintenance records
    • Communicate with drivers and vendors for scheduling required maintenance
    • Coordinate truck and load changes due to breakdowns and quickly route deliveries to maintain schedule minimizing downtime and maintenance expense
  • Driver Management
    • Assist in the interview and hiring process for new drivers
    • Manager Training and carding process for all drivers
    • Monitor all schedules to insure there are adequate drivers on duty
  • Essential Skills and Experience
    • High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED)
    • 1-2 years Transportation Dispatch experience is preferred
    • Must have working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Internet, email/scheduling software
    • Knowledge of DOT regulations is a plus, but not required
